Dr. Bharat Kumar, BVSc & AH, DVM
Medical Director
Dr. Kumar grew up in Rohtak, India and spent most of his childhood around dogs, cats, goats, parrots, pigs, and buffaloes. There isn’t a single memory where animals were not a part of it. His love of veterinary medicine started with his great-grandfather, who was a veterinary nurse in an equine hospital and helped every patient with love and compassion. He embodied the values that he sees as important in veterinary medicine: compassion, knowledge, a strong work ethic, practicality, honesty, and fairness. Values which he strives to emulate in my practice of veterinary medicine every day.
He spent much of his time volunteering in a veterinary hospital before and during high school. He did his undergraduate studies in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at Vaish College, before going on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry from Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in 2009 and becoming a licensed veterinarian. He worked as a Gazetted Veterinary Officer in Animal Aid Unlimited Shelter, Udaipur, India and served the stray cows, donkeys, dogs, cats, and birds.
Dr. Kumar worked for 3 years in India before moving to Wisconsin in 2012. After coming here, he worked as a veterinary technician for 4 years in emergency and primary care hospitals in Milwaukee and attended the clinical year at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, IL and received his American Veterinary License in 2017. He worked in small animal practices in Milwaukee and Chicago before moving to California in 2022. Throughout his career, he has always tried to maintain a strong focus on client service and excellence in patient care; by continuously improving the quality of care delivered to both clients and patients. Dr. Kumar is working on his Cat Friendly Veterinarian and Fear Free Professional certifications. Dr. Kumar also enjoys singing, and reading fiction and biographies especially those of scientists, inventors, and artists.
“I love what I do here every day at Comfort Paws Mobile Vet being able to establish relationships with my patients and clients, so that families can live their best lives.” – Dr. Bharat Kumar

Efren Garcia BSc
Veterinary Assistant
Efren was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and has been involved in the veterinary field for more than 8 years- offering services to patients from specialties including General Medicine, Shelter Medicine, and Emergency Medicine. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a focus in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from California State University, Chico in 2020, Efren is preparing for the next chapter in his life- The College of Veterinary Medicine where he will pursue his veterinary medical degree with a specialty in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. During recent years, Efren has taken on a rare leadership role as a Veterinary Clinical Coordinator for two clinics now: including Woodland Hills Pet Clinic in Woodland Hills, CA (2020-2023), and currently at Borchard Veterinary Clinic in Newbury Park, CA (2023-Present). He is enjoying many aspects of this new position such as the learning and responsibilities that come with this role- which include, but are not limited to: developing and regulating protocol(s), patient care and efficiency, assisting with clinic budgeting and inventory, client communication and providing fear-free experiences for all patients that come into our care.
Today, Efren continues to gain his experience and knowledge under the mentorship of veterinarian Dr. Bharat Kumar, DVM, and Veterinary Technician Zaneta Rocha, RVT- all of which will better prepare him for and beyond Veterinary School. Aside from his experience working with companion animals, Efren has always had an interest in large animals- dating back to his days as a young boy visiting his father’s hometown of Jerez de Garcia Salinas in Zacatecas, Mexico where an abundance of cows and horses resided. This, in combination with the experience and knowledge that he obtained in undergraduate studies has shaped his interest in wanting to be a mixed animal veterinarian- where he hopes to one day manage Livestock health and wellness through herd health management; and provide emergency and critical care services to companion animals in need.
During his free time, Efren enjoys spending time with his Siberian Husky, Buddy and embracing all that nature has to offer- such as hiking, going to the beach, visiting national parks, or even just gazing at the stars in the night sky. He also enjoys traveling to both close and far destinations with family and doing spontaneous last-minute things with friends.
“Connecting with the patient effectively and responsively; while at the same time, educating clients through clear and efficient communication.” -Efren Garcia, BSc, VA
